🦅🪶Our Sophomore, Junior, and Senior JOM students had a great time at the Indian Youth Career Day @UCO yesterday! We listened to Dr. Cornel Pewewardy (a professor of Native American Law at OU), UCO President Todd Lamb, and Commander John Herrington, visited lots of college booths, attended workshops over our career area of interest, and ended the day with a campus tour.
A big highlight of the day was listening to Commander John Herrington tell us about his life experience. Here are just a few interesting facts about Commander Harrington-- he was the first Native American astronaut to leave the Earth's atmosphere, worked on the International Space Station, was the 143rd person to spend time outside his spaceship in space, and was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma.
It was a great day!
