For the Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry (ROMP) state-wide contest, we had three winners:
🏆Kindergarten 2nd Place: Gideon Forman
🏆11th Grade 2nd Place: Tanner Johnston
🏆11th Grade 3rd Place: Kendra Rattan
➡️Gideon (Kdg 2nd Place)
"Yummy Strawberry King"
Strawberries…
Yummy,
Delicious
Forever!
It’s so small,
And you can sleep
Forever
Because it has no eyes.
➡️Tanner Johnston (11th Gr. 2nd Place)
"I am a Mistletoe"
Why is the mistletoe
Always alone
Yet is a sign for love
In every home
Symbolizing love and peace
It hangs over the door
It hangs all alone
Reminding people to be grateful
That they are not like the mistletoe
I am a mistletoe
So much love to give
Never receiving any
Because that’s just the way it is
➡️Kendra Rattan (11th Gr. 3rd Place)
"It Reminds Me of You"
As I stand under the shiny mistletoe
It gives me so much peace.
The peace that you once brought
Oh, how I can’t help but think of you.
The mistletoe that hangs above me
Will always bring me peace,
Always bring me love,
The love and peace you once brought.
